Kilo Dialogues presents: A Quantum City
“I wake up, the city is beautiful, I hate, I love, I cry, I suffer, I discover, get to know — everything happens at once — Andy Warhol, the Beatles, Dennis Hopper, scene, streets, taxis, advertising, LSD, false eyelashes, wigs, red, red, red…Pose, art and 15 minutes of fame, Martin Luther King and racism. New York, Alexandria, Athens, gods, Zeus, Florence, sushi, Michelangelo, antiquity, the golden ratio, the atria of Doric and Ionic columns, Palazzolo, Petrarch, Goethe, love sonnets, haiku…I ask people on the street what and where to eat and where to sleep, how to get money; I meet the Queen of England, and Shakespeare in London…It is a place for irony, a constant state of contradiction. Numbers, statistics, empathy, commitment, risk, safety, accutane online, all of this the city. Paris, Beijing, revolution, to feel at home, to die for an idea of the city, destruction, commitment, joy, determination; Hammurabi, Gilgamesh, Confucius, Vienna, Singapore, Art, Art Nouveau, to die in the city; Jakarta, to be born again, be lost, become a multitude, to be connected, Allah, the internet…”
We know the specific strengths of various cities, are aware of their ranking, and are able to discuss their density and growth. But what do all cities have in common, and what do we know about the ”lowest common denominator“? The ”city as a species“, the ”primal genetic material of the city“ — this is the subject of ‘A Quantum City’.
Be ready for a multi-layered event: during the night the authors will present ‘A Quantum City’, followed by a discussion. Then join us and experience, explore, and dive into a multi-media installation.|
